There is nothing absolute. Everything changes, everything moves, everything revolves — everything flies and goes away.
Frida Kahlo
Note here, right here, that change is to come your way at any given moment. Also note that you can almost always see it coming. I wrote a dramatic little line months ago…
“There is a sickening feeling in the pit of my stomach. Dreadful, imminent. As if something that hasn’t happened has already gone awry.”
Perturbingly ominous, strikingly accurate. Ever since I wrote that there has been more change in my life than I care to recollect or write down. If you are kind enough to follow me here and there, and you’ve noticed a not-so-brief social media break I’m taking, I’m happy to say I’m officially back, after three months and approximately two hundred and seventy cups of coffee. I also come with lovely great news! I’m pleased to tell you that Carmín Amor will debut this Sunday morning.
What is Carmín Amor?
In essence, the same little blog with a different name and some added charms! I want to delve deeper into this platform and I figured the only way to do it was starting a few projects with our new and renovated little space, in addition to our essays and poetry.
The Anatomy of Carmín Amor
Carmín, my favorite shade of kisses. Amor, love, which is the only thing that remains unchanging in the beautiful and petrifying mess we call life. Spanish is my first language, and I’ve observed myself incorporating it more and more into my writing lately, especially as I’ve delved and wallowed in the past so much during these past few months, and found many lovely things there that I once overlooked. Carmín Amor popped into my head as two words that made little sense together (even grammatically) yet exuded the very essence I wanted to convey; it tasted as sweet as marmalade and felt as strong as mahogany. And now it’s all yours too.
I first started this substack to share a piece of my mind with my audience and it evolved into being a beautiful compendium and a space to connect with other writers. It became a celebration to a quiet life, art and beauty, but I kept wanting to turn it into a community more and more with each post. So, instead of redesigning our little blog all by myself, I thought about letting you do it with me. Please use this comment section (or any way you want to reach out to me) as a suggestion box for whatever you want to see here!
Carmín Amor, at its core, will remain free of charge, but I’m thinking of adding a sort of membership/paid access to some features. Read Carmín Amor’s drafts, choose the next feature, be part of a book club or get exclusive access to an in-house vlog feature. Let me know all of your suggestions, because I’m incredibly happy to be back, and so excited to hear from you again xx.
I am delighted to welcome you all to this little corner of the internet. For the writers, the tender hearts, the old souls and the lovers of all things beautiful, welcome. So, from the bottom of my heart and hoping you’ll have a wonderful weekend, Carmín Amor is coming soon x
leaving a red-tinted kiss on your cheek,
Nicté
Also, I love that you mentioned my comment loll
